Building the Ravenel Bridge

After all the photos I took, I've tried to arrange them in some order based on various topics I found interesting.

And a reminder from T.S. Eliot (East Coker from the Four Quartets)

Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion

March 29, 2005 East Pylon: Final steps in preparing anchors

Art hides everywhere - here are two stay pipe entrances as seen from inside the pylon

The cables are all cut to a standard length as shown by Cyril, my professor of stay-cable theory

Then the wedges are permanently seated with another special Freyssinet tool

and a gun used to permanently seat the wedge

Then long bolts are inserted to hold the cable array cover
