Building the Ravenel Bridge

After all the photos I took, I've tried to arrange them in some order based on various topics I found interesting.

And a reminder from T.S. Eliot (East Coker from the Four Quartets)

Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion

January 8, 2005: Bridging the Channel Gap
Big progress this week. On the west platform the LAST (16th) edge girders are in place (if I counted correctly), while on the east platform, the cable bundles have been built and floor girders erected and attached to the edge girders that were in place last week.

Here are views of the "gap" from the old bridge - looking east

Looking west (click on the photo and look for the two anchored barges with the last two pairs of edge girders and associated floor girders)
